Make your list of your top 15 personal favorite De Palma films! In other words; it does not have to be what you consider to be the top 15 films of greatest cinematic merit; but rather your personal favorites. I will add mine a bit later

Top 15?? How many are there in total?!
I find these list nearly impossible to make.
Blow Out is to me DePalma's most consummate film. Dressed to Kill and Sisters made an indelible mark on me and are signature DePalma. Casualties of War is his most mature and emotional film. Scarface is legendary and much richer than most popular opinions give it credit for. Carlito's Way glistens in every scene and its drama and action haven't diminished one bit in nearly 20 years. Phantom of the Paradise is true a celebration. Hi Mom is hilarious and a breakthrough. Mission: Impossible is perhaps the best big budget, franchise, summer action film since Raiders of the Lost Ark. And Femme Fatale is DePalma's last truly great film and one of the most inventive and sheerly joyful moviegoing experiences I recall ever having in the past decade.
I've never really disliked a DePalma film, I should note. The one that made the least impression on me was Home Movies but even that film has some interesting moments.

Okay, so I came up with a list. After looking at it a second time, I wanted to change the order, but then I thought again and kept with the initial instinct. So, here it is:
01 Blow Out 02 Dressed to Kill 03 Body Double 04 Obsession 05 The Black Dahlia 06 Femme Fatale 07 The Untouchables 08 Sisters 09 Redacted 10 Carlito's Way 11 Snake Eyes 12 Raising Cain 13 Casualties of War 14 Phantom of the Paradise 15 Carrie
Damn, this was very complicated. I love/like everything on this list, and whatever was left out. Yes, even Bonfire of the Vanities has merits.

DePalma's ouevre is so deep that I outrageously omitted Carrie, The Fury, Body Double and The Untouchables from my post above. I simply cannot do these lists! I go through phases with each DePalma film. And that includes The Bonfire of Vanities, which I've seen countless times and have always loved. He's a brilliant director whose work has withstood the test of time.

Well...my list started out in order, but it's really not in order. Was that your original intent for the list to be in the order we love them? I will have to rethink that one! Dressed To Kill is a masterpiece of suspense. It would be in my top 5. I will re order my list as soon as you post yours. As for being crazy....I love Brian De Palma....what more can I say? ;D Bill

It tends to change depending on which films I've seen last, and a few are definately due for a repeat viewing, like Carrie and Sisters, both of which I probabaly haven't watched for ten years.. Also looking forward to Phantom, Home Movies, and Passion!

:oYou have never seen Phantom of the Paradise.... ...and you call me crazy!!! Well here is my list in order as of today.... 1-Phantom of the Paradise 2-Blow Out 3-Dressed to Kill 4-Raising Cain 5-Snake Eyes 6-Carlito's Way 7-Carrie 8-Sisters 9-Scarface 10-The Black Dahlia 11-Mission Impossible 12-Greetings 13-Hi Mom 14-The Fury 15-Casualties of War Not to much different I suppose...but really the first 2 are my favorites partly because these are the films that hooked me when I was young when I knew nothing about Brian or who he was...they were and still are fantastic films. The rest of them all tie for third! (including the ones I didn't list...15 remember!) Bill

Yeah, I guess I took a little admin-priviledge on listing a few more.. Great to see Snake Eyes is getting some love Also interesting to note that Body Double only made two top 15 lists. Back in the days of briandepalma.net that used to get quite a bit of positive mentions, but I must say I never quite got that..

Firstly, loving this forum and the De Palma A La Mod site in general.
Here's my belated list -
1) Carlitos Way 2) Blow Out 3) Femme Fatale 4) The Black Dahlia 5) Dressed to Kill 6) Body Double 7) The Untouchables 8) Carrie 9) Snake Eyes 10) Raising Cain 11) Scarface 12) The Fury 13) Mission To Mars 14) Sisters 15) Mission Impossible
Probably contrary to a lot of people's opinions I have a lot of love for Black Dahlia & Mission to Mars (both hugely underrated and warrant repeated viewings)
