I find it amazing how much positivity seems to surround Brian these days. I guess even J.Hoberman wrote a really positive review - it's been a while since I've seen that. I think some of the serious books that have been written about him lately - Becoming Visionary and Un-American Psycho- have presented very convincing arguments for his re-evaluation. More academic attention and praise make it a lot harder for serious critics to dismiss him, I think. Hoberman even talked a lot about the book. I mean, take a look at the comments here for instance: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdQ1jXYaXTQ&feature=player_embeddedAnd Brian seems really happy too - I love it! Can't wait to see Passion and Heat ! :-)

Wow, now even the NY Post wants in on the fun: "I was practically drunk on this new movie's sensuality and dazzle. Passion is pure cinema, giddily unrelated to any aspect of life as it is actually lived in Europe or anywhere on Planet Earth. And for me (as well as the audience at the press screening, which seemed to dig it) that's an excellent thing." (via De Palma A La Mod) I completely agree, film is not reality. (Check out my thoughts on that here if you're interested: christiangrevstad.wordpress.com/2009/03/31/the-wrestler-vs-man-on-wire-film-is-not-reality/ ) This is really starting to sound like a great De Palma film :-)
