You have a point. I still think it has the potential to be a hit because people will be curious about it. The scandal is still fresh in our minds. But I see what you mean.
I just hope De Palma doesn't back out of this one as he has with many other films he's been attached to. I'm fascinated to see what he'll do with the subject.

How do you all feel about this upcoming film that De Palma is attached to?
At first I wasn't sure, because it doesn't seem like the kind of film De Palma would usually do, but now I'm really excited about it. I think it has the potential to be De Palma's biggest hit in years, but it also will allow him to work again with Pacino and delve deep into Joe Paterno and the scandal he was involved in.

Hey all, I hope this is okay for me to post. If not feel free to remove it. I am co-writing a book on the making of "Carrie" with Fangoria writer Lee Gambin. It's called Blood Among the Stars: The Making of "Carrie" and it will cover all incarnations of the story with the prime focus being Brian De Palma's film. It will probably be out sometime next year. We have interviewed almost all of the key cast and crew members involved with the making of this film, including Brian De Palma, Stephen King, Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, and Nancy Allen, and we are hard at work making this book the best it can be for De Palma fans, King fans, and horror fans in general. I was absolutely thrilled to have the chance to speak with Mr. De Palma. It was truly a dream come true for me, and he is a very nice man. He was tremendously helpful, and I thought I would post about this here because I know you all will be very interested to see what he had to say! Here's the website for my book, where you can see a list of all the contributors we have lined up: carriebook.wordpress.comAnd here's the Facebook and Twitter pages so you can like and share with your friends! www.facebook.com/makingofcarriewww.twitter.com/makingofcarrie

Well, the first De Palma film I ever saw was Carrie, and I must have been around five years old. I loved it then, even though it terrified me, and it has since become my all-time favorite movie. I believe the next De Palma film I saw was Dressed to Kill, and it was several years later. I was intrigued by the combination of sleaze and class that De Palma brought to that film. And then I was able to see Sisters and I loved that as well. At that point, whenever I found a De Palma thriller at the store, it was mine! haha

Whoa, I just now discovered this forum! I hope more people join so we can have plenty of good discussions going about De Palma's work! I voted for moderate hit. I think Passion will do well, but I expect it to only get a limited release in the U.S. Hopefully it will end up being a smash and will be released wider, but I'm not getting my hopes up. As long as the film is good, I don't care how much money it makes, but of course it's important to the people who made the movie.
